30 Day Project-Day 19

Day 19

A picture and a letter
(I decided to do a picture of a letter)
My "Don't Open Until I'm Gone" letter

No, this is not the "If I should not make it home" letter, I do not open those letters he writes, those letters go in our safe, and when he returns home, we still do not read them, we burn them!!
Every deployment Jimmy writes me a letter and leaves it some where around the house for me to find when I return home from saying our "see you soons" I cherish all those letters. When I find the letters, I am already upset but as soon as I read it, I automatically start smiling and feel a bit better! I look forward to finding that letter when I return home.
We tend to write a lot of letters to each other through out the course of a deployment. Yes, we talk on the phone and e-mail each other a lot, but a hand written letter is more personal. I have a box FILLED with letters that Jimmy sent me, letters he sent to the girls and letters/pictures the girls and I sent to him. I'm hoping YEARS from now our children and Grandchildren will be able to read them and know how much Jimmy and I loved each other, and be able to read first hand what their father/grandfather went through in a time of war!

  2. Cory and I are big big writers too. I tried to go through them all a few years ago and it is SOME work...lol! I eventually want to have them set out by date going back and fourth...lol - that will be fun!

    Love this!

  3. Thanks guys!!
I have ours in a box by date, going back and forth. Usually as soon as I get a letter, I put it in the box, and when Jimmy comes home I take the letters he has and put them in in order of dates!!
