21 weeks and 5 days today!
Were over the "official" pregnancy half way mark...but for us, since we'll be delivering no earlier then 36 weeks(hopefully) and no later then 37-37.4 weeks...we only have roughly less then 15-16 weeks to go!! Thats CRAZY!! With summer approaching and everything going on, I think it will FLY by!!! I look at it like a deployment, when counting down...I always counted down by pay checks and holidays lol...So with that...we have 7 paychecks...and 3 holidays(Mothers Day, Fathers Day and 4th of July) Thats nothing!! We still have a lot to do and get before they arrive!!
Things have been going good. My body is sore, Im pretty much already carrying 2 pounds of babies and about 2 feet of them as well lol So by the time the babies arrive, my body is really going to hate me!! I have been getting braxton hicks contractions as well as the real contractions for a few weeks now, nothing to make a big fuss over, but its crazy to already be feeling them.
Both babies are very active, always kicking, punching, rolling and twisting, which we love!!
For those who have been keeping up with me, know that I was very hesitant about where I was going to get care from. I decided to wait to make my decision on what the Naval hospital had to offer. I have given birth to 2 out of 3 of my kids in a Naval hospital. My oldest Audrianna was born in a civilian hospital in NY, I got excellent care and was only seen by 2 doctors the entire pregnancy. When I went into labor they were both there in the delivery room with me! It was a great experience! With Ella and Paisley I delivered them both in Camp Lejeune's Naval hospital...with both I was seen by what seemed like a million different doctors and midwifes and when it came time to deliver they were both delivered by doctors I had never seen or met, so it was a bit awkward, because they didn't know me as a patient and I didn't know them. So when we got here to California, I had a big decision to make, to be seen by a civilian doctor or to go to the Naval hospital. The moment I found out I was having twins, I felt like I really needed the best care, because now my needs just sky rocketed! I decided to go to the first appointment that the Naval hospital set up for me to see what they had to say and how they "handle" the twin process.
I went to the appointment and right away loved the doctor! She is a bit younger and right away treated me like a normal person. For those who have gotten care at a Naval hospital, a lot of the times your treated more as a "number" then a patient. She introduced herself and immediately asked me how I was feeling, and wanted to know about me. Once we got through that she jumped right into all the info I needed! She said that she and ONE other doctor would be the ONLY doctors to see me, and that she would always be on call for when the time comes!! So obviously I have stayed with the Naval hospital!
I just had an appointment last week. They do a quick office ultrasound every appointment to just check on the babies and make sure they are ok. They are getting so big and squished in there!! I am aiming for a vaginal delivery...I do not want a cesarean unless its absolutely needed. So as long as baby A(girl) stays head down were good to go...their both head down but they can still flip, even up til birth(they flip around all the time, i can feel them when they do it lol)!! So please pray I can push these babies out lol
They were looking and measuring a lot bigger then they should be so I go for another(of many more to come)growth scan on April 24th. Its been a blessing to be under such great care!! They also set me up for a L&D tour...since my delivery will be a bit "different" since I will have to deliver in the OR(regardless of vaginal or c-section) they want to show me how this will go down lol I will get to labor in a l&d room but once its time to push I will get wheeled to the OR to push! We go for that next month! We also set up for all three girls to go to the Big Sibling class in June, of course Audri and Ella are pros, I want to get Paisley introduced to the "big sibling world" and get the older girls refreshed lol then July...the babies come!!!
I also got to go in for a 3/4d ultrasound on friday evening...it was very unsuccessful. Little man would only give us a few quick peeks at his side profile. He had his knees up in his face and his hands also up over his face...every now and then he would move his hand away from his face so we could see him...and let me tell you he looks like his daddy already!! Its crazy lol i looked over at Jimmy as he was looking at the screen and they have the same exact side profile!!! Little lady...well we could not see her face because her brother had his butt literally in her face...every now and again he would move and would end up sitting on her shoulder...it was hysterical to see!! So these amazing ladies gave us another free ultrasound to come back to...funny thing is were going to get to see these babies two days in a row in 3d! On the 20th we go for our last 3/4d ultrasound with the "watch us grow" plan and they re-scheduled our free ultrasound for the 21st so hopefully one out of the 2 give us good shots of them!! Then on the 24th we go for the grout scan!!! There will be no more 3/4d ultrasounds after next weekend because these places don't like to do twins after 25 weeks since they are so smushed come that point that its almost a waste. So for everyone who says were "ruining" being surprised on who/what their going to look like...we really won't know...their still so small that by the time their born they will more then likely look completely different. Paisley was the only other baby we did the 3/4d with and we did it at 16 weeks, 24 weeks and 32 weeks and the difference between 24 and 32 weeks was insane...she looked so much different because she was chubbier lol I can't wait to go back and pick up the CD with the images for last weeks ultrasound so I can share them...Jimmy and I got a good laugh watching them lol
Their nursery is coming along nicely!! We have a few more finishing touches to do and it should be complete!! We decided to do our own theme with the safari/jungle look...since their boy/girl we wanted to make it both girly/boyish at the same time! The girls even enjoy helping with the nursery!!
A lot of our friends keep asking us if were going to keep everyone updated when the time comes. Were unsure yet. Were not sure if were going to just wait until they are born to tell people or keep everyone updated through the whole thing....we do have some time to decide so just keep an eye out for that info if you were interested.
